No audio yet......

But we have gotten to a computer where we could upload photos. SO here are a few from our first week! Eventually they will all be uploaded to my photobucket account (bbarnicle22 under pct photos), but the computer here is really slow so I just chose a few to share for now.

Photobucket
Here we are at the border! Phillip and Dana, me and Raymond. There was a minuteman person there who took the photo for us.

Photobucket
And we are off and running!

Photobucket
The view from the border looking North

Photobucket
Raymond at mile 1! I thought awesome there are mile markers.....well only the one :( and occasionally a marker for how far to a certain place.

Photobucket
The view from our campsite high in the mountains the first night.

Photobucket
Along the trail the second day (heading to Lake Morena)

Photobucket
Our first snake!

Photobucket
Some wildflowers along the trail the third day. The third day was absolutely beautiful!!

Photobucket
Mt Laguna store and post office. We got here the night before and had delicious Klondik bars! Sooo good after a long hot day of hiking!

Photobucket
Our tent set up and Raymond boiling water for dinner the night before we got to Julian (Wednesday night). It was very windy and freezing. I basically ate my dinner as fast as possible so I could get into the tent and get warm (it is surprising how warm the tent stays considering all sides have bug netting and are basically open).

Photobucket
On the hike to get to the road to get to Julian. Finally more desert like with cactus and such.

Photobucket
And once we got to Julian we had an amazing breakfast (and huge and pretty cheap- neither of us could finish it all). I had an omlete, potatoes, and a heart shaped biscuit :)

Photobucket
Raymond had pancakes, eggs, and potatoes. Yum!!

Photobucket
Hiking up Scissors Crossing took forever! But there were a lot of pretty cacti

Photobucket
And once we got down to Barrel Springs we found this....which had

Photobucket
Cold beverages inside! It was amazing as warm water is not very good. I had some mixed berry juice and it was soooo delicious. Raymond opted for a lemon lime soda.

Photobucket
And we camped at Barrell Springs which was similar to this area farther down the trail. There was a stream flowing and it was gorgeous and cool. A perfect place to take a break in the shade and cool off.

Photobucket
Then about 4 miles outside of Warner Springs there is Eagle Rock....see it looks like an eagle.....

So we are in Warner Springs right now. We are planning on leaving tomorrow morning bright and early. There are signs all over her about the wildfire up ahead. If it is still burning and the trail is still closed when we get there we will just get into Idyllwild and hike back on the one trail to above where there is the fire. We would miss about 20 miles of trail...but if it is on fire there is not much we can do. But there is talk of how it may be under control and open by the time we get there (the original plan was to go past the road at the bottom of where the fire is to go to Idyllwild and hike in on the trail 20 miles ahead to get to town....we shall see. Apparently there are forest rangers at the trail making people detour to Idyllwild so we shall see).

I seriously can't believe you're both doing this! I'm so jealous!! If you somehow detour to Vegas, I'm THERE!

Fall is here!

So not a whole lot has happened since I last posted. On our anniversary we were going to go on the boat tour of Berlin, but it was rainy and overcast so we decided to wait for a nice sunny day to do that. We had a few errands to run in the morning and then Raymond said about going to a museum. I saw the natural history museum and since I loved the one in Denver we decided to go there. You walk into this big room with lots of fossils and Dinosaurs! They didn't have a lot of things - this was the main room and is maim attraction of the museum. It was a tiny place, and they were doing renovations on a lot of the other exhibits. Apparently it is famous for having the largest dinosaur skeleton in the world! They also had these fun viewfinder things you could look through and if you point it at a dinosaur it would show this animation that filled them in and then showed them running around or eating or whatever. I thought it was fun. There was also a large room of rocks and m...

Den Haag, Netherlands Part 3

Our last day in Den Haag we wandered around just a bit more First stop - the Antique and Book market The ground was all seashells Mondrian on the water by the government buildings We decided to get lunch at Cafe Zeta which was in Grote Markt where they were having a free music festival, Sinester. Though we were there on the last day which was the kids day. It was fun as we were sitting outside and at the stage people were teaching kids how to play things and DJ and stuff.  I got the Hippie Buddah Bowl (Bulgur, sweet potato, bald, roasted chickpeas, tahini dressing, avocado, black sesame seeds) with the Fennel mint pear juice And Raymond had the Apple Pear Ginger juice and the Veggie Roast Bowl (mushrooms, red onion rings, rocket, Parmesan cheese, olive oil). Super tasty lunch! A stop at More Pastry for more treats - Peanut butter chocolate tart - so good! And the...

The final days in Paris

Our second day of our museum pass we used to go to the Louvre. It so huge - we spent from open to close there and just managed to see everything. It is also very confusing how to get from point a to point b - so many stairs and up and down floors just to see the one floor....good thing I had Raymond or I would have wondered aimlessly forever (but by the end I had the hang of it). We started with the medieval Louvre, Greek, Etruscan, Roman and Egyptian Antiquities. When we first walked in we were right behind a few tour groups, but somehow we lost them pretty quick and we able to walk around and brows without tons of people. I cannot imagine going during the summer when it is super crowded. I liked the different colors of stone on some of them After that we got some lunch nearby then headed back to look at the paintings Then my favorite part - decorative arts. So much fun pretty things. Replica of Napoleons apartment. Then ...
