Napoli Part 2: Day trip to Sorrento

So today I will be posting about our day trip to Sorrento. There will be a lot (like seriously a lot) of photos of the water and Vesuvius who finally decided to come out of the clouds. As I said in my first post on Naples, a lot of people thought you should make Sorrento your home base and day trip to Naples if you want. A lot of people seem to really like Sorrento. While it was nice, it is just a small, beach-ey resort tourist town without much of a beach. The downtown area is not very big and is just full of tourists and tourist shops. I swear the only locals in the downtown area were those who were working. The streets were packed with people (I am glad we didn't go there on the weekend!) and after maybe an hour we were out of things to do. Well that is not quite true, but in downtown we were out of things to do. I am glad we didn't stay there. It would have just been sitting by the pool all day or something which eh. Not when we could be exploring Naples!

Slightly odd panorama from our hotel in Naples Well we have had quite a busy spring! First up we headed down to Napoli! Now Napoli. The week before we went I started looking up things to do. Well this led to lots of Naples is not very safe posts and people who really do not like it there. From everything I could find the big hazard in Napoli is pickpockets. Sure that would suck to get your wallet stolen, but it is not the worst thing I can imagine. Plus you have some control over it. I also went to Rick Steves to see what he thinks of the city. He really enjoys it there and didn't have many warnings besides the typical things to keep your money safe so I figured it wouldn't be too bad. I also found a great quote from him: "If you like Italy as far south as Rome, go further south. It gets better. If Italy is getting on your nerves by the time you get to Rome, think twice about going further. Italy intensifies as you plunge deeper." The only other city we h
