Barcelona Part 5

Since we had been doing so much walking all over Barcelona one of our last days there we decided to just have a beach day. Just lay on the beach, rest out feet, and only walk to get lunch and dinner. In the morning it was still a bit too chilly and overcast to swim, but by afternoon it was warm enough. So lots of beach photos in this post

After lunch all clear and sunny. We had been going to the beach every day at some point and there are tons of ladies walking around trying to give people massages and guys with drinks and blankets to sit on. When it is sunny and busy on the beach they are everywhere and kind of annoying as they come by every two seconds. So on our beach day we sat a little farther down the beach than we normally had been, closer to some buildings that were back by the road, and in the morning we had noticed that none of those people selling things came over as far as we were. It was like there was an invisible line they didn't cross. It was curious, but that afternoon we found out why. We were sitting just below the police station there on the beach, which we didn't realize, and one of the vendors did come over that far and the police came out and took him inside to talk to him. So note to anyone going to Barcelona - sit near the police office on the beach and don't get hassled by the people selling stuff.

Inside the hotdog place we had pre-dinner

We found this hidden basketball court where there were lots of kids hanging out to eat out hotdog - in el Raval

The streets are pretty quiet after dark through the center of town. Only one more day left in Barcelona.

Fall is here!

So not a whole lot has happened since I last posted. On our anniversary we were going to go on the boat tour of Berlin, but it was rainy and overcast so we decided to wait for a nice sunny day to do that. We had a few errands to run in the morning and then Raymond said about going to a museum. I saw the natural history museum and since I loved the one in Denver we decided to go there. You walk into this big room with lots of fossils and Dinosaurs! They didn't have a lot of things - this was the main room and is maim attraction of the museum. It was a tiny place, and they were doing renovations on a lot of the other exhibits. Apparently it is famous for having the largest dinosaur skeleton in the world! They also had these fun viewfinder things you could look through and if you point it at a dinosaur it would show this animation that filled them in and then showed them running around or eating or whatever. I thought it was fun. There was also a large room of rocks and m...

The final days in Paris

Our second day of our museum pass we used to go to the Louvre. It so huge - we spent from open to close there and just managed to see everything. It is also very confusing how to get from point a to point b - so many stairs and up and down floors just to see the one floor....good thing I had Raymond or I would have wondered aimlessly forever (but by the end I had the hang of it). We started with the medieval Louvre, Greek, Etruscan, Roman and Egyptian Antiquities. When we first walked in we were right behind a few tour groups, but somehow we lost them pretty quick and we able to walk around and brows without tons of people. I cannot imagine going during the summer when it is super crowded. I liked the different colors of stone on some of them After that we got some lunch nearby then headed back to look at the paintings Then my favorite part - decorative arts. So much fun pretty things. Replica of Napoleons apartment. Then ...

Stupid Libraries.

So I only have six minutes left and just wasted a few seconds letting you know, but I need some assistance in getting things off our iPod onto the net. In the last town we were in, I came so close to getting it up only to be thwarted by the only damn cd -burner in the shop being broken. This is the problem: my iPod is mac formatted - the folks at Apple thought it would be hilarious to not include some sort of compatibility between windows and mac versions of iTunes to read the voice memos you record from any computer. If your iPod formatted on a mac (I believe it's HSF +), windows iTunes will tell you to reformat the buggar . And get this, the iPod records voice memos in old school PC style wav files. What the hell. Anyway, I can't test or install things on this library computer, but if someone checking the blog who is tech savvy could find a program to retrieve data from a mac formatted iPod from a windows machine - a program that doesn't use a god damn install ...
