Sept Adventures 2023: Hiking near Wernigerode & Thale

Today we got up and went for a hike in the valley above Wernigerode

The trail we were following was pretty nice with good views, though at one point it got very overgrown with tall grasses so we made our own way to where we were going on better trails

Having a homemade Blueberry Iced Tea which was so refreshing while relaxing by the Steinerne Renne waterfall

This was such a nice spot for a break and to have lunch!

The way back to the car was along the water and nice and cool

Then it was off to our next stop - Thale

We stayed right by Friedenspark

And Raymond lost his hat somewhere so we wandered into town to find a new on.

There were so many wooden sculptures/benches everywhere

Back in the park

So many fun benches!

Thale is a strange town as there isn't really a good downtown to wander around. But there is great hiking in the area so it was a good place to stay.

I hadn't found a ton of food options in Thale so we headed into Quedlingburg for dinner at Le Feu

For flammkuchen! We had the falafel and potato flammkuchen

And tried the apple and the apple pear for dessert! The apple pear one was flambéd with Cointreau, which I was iffy on, but it was really good

And then a quick wander through town on the way back to the car

The final days in Paris

Our second day of our museum pass we used to go to the Louvre. It so huge - we spent from open to close there and just managed to see everything. It is also very confusing how to get from point a to point b - so many stairs and up and down floors just to see the one floor....good thing I had Raymond or I would have wondered aimlessly forever (but by the end I had the hang of it). We started with the medieval Louvre, Greek, Etruscan, Roman and Egyptian Antiquities. When we first walked in we were right behind a few tour groups, but somehow we lost them pretty quick and we able to walk around and brows without tons of people. I cannot imagine going during the summer when it is super crowded. I liked the different colors of stone on some of them After that we got some lunch nearby then headed back to look at the paintings Then my favorite part - decorative arts. So much fun pretty things. Replica of Napoleons apartment. Then ...

Campervan Adventures in Iceland: Day 11 - Kerid Crater & Reykjanes Peninsula

Day 11 our first stop was Kerid Crater. This was nice, but nothing special. You have to pay to get in, you can walk around the top and then down to the water, but if you are going to be seeing other craters then this is an easy one to skip. Nice, but nothing special.

Stupid Libraries.

So I only have six minutes left and just wasted a few seconds letting you know, but I need some assistance in getting things off our iPod onto the net. In the last town we were in, I came so close to getting it up only to be thwarted by the only damn cd -burner in the shop being broken. This is the problem: my iPod is mac formatted - the folks at Apple thought it would be hilarious to not include some sort of compatibility between windows and mac versions of iTunes to read the voice memos you record from any computer. If your iPod formatted on a mac (I believe it's HSF +), windows iTunes will tell you to reformat the buggar . And get this, the iPod records voice memos in old school PC style wav files. What the hell. Anyway, I can't test or install things on this library computer, but if someone checking the blog who is tech savvy could find a program to retrieve data from a mac formatted iPod from a windows machine - a program that doesn't use a god damn install ...
