Christmas Adventures: Dusseldorf

We have never been to Dusseldorf even though we have been to a lot of the smaller towns in the area for Pokemon. When I was planning this trip this was one of the top Christmas Markets to go to and was open after Christmas so I was excited to explore.

Our first night we had a small wander by some of the markets and they were so pretty!

It was so nice and the city seemed fun so I was excited to explore more!

There was also another vegan patisserie, Isabella Glutenfreie Patisserie, so we had to get some treats! We tried the pistachio raspberry cake

And some macarons - delicious!

The next day was perfect for wandering

The bridges over Staftgraben were so much fun!

Each one had different animals so we had to spy on all of them

We found some cinnamon rolls from Cinnamood. They looked like they were going to be overly sweet, and we planned to just have a taste when we took a break by the water...but they were so good we ate them all! And not too sweet surprisingly (and I looked it up and there is a location here in Berlin!)

Having a sit by the water. This waterfront was so nice to walk along!

The market in Marktplatz

This area by the Hofgarten was so nice! The buildings were fun

And the park was fun too!

There were lots of Rose-Ringed Parakeets around and they were so chatty

And lots of other birds! New to us were the Egyptian Geese (seen in the middle here)

We got some vegan currywurst and fries for lunch from the Christmas market and sat by the water watching all the birds! It was so much fun!

A hot beverage in our fun mugs!

There was this steep green area to walk on top of some shops

Back to the waterfront

We went back to Isabella Glutenfreie Patisserie to get some more treats and this time we had the mixed berry cake (my favorite! I loved this so much! It was light and a bit tart and sweet and perfect!)

A cherry cake

And a chocolate cake. All of it was good, but the berry one I would have happily eaten more of!

After dinner it was time for another quick wander

Dusseldorf was a lot of fun. The Christmas markets were great, the city itself was pretty nice, I would definitely put this on the list to come back to

Stupid Libraries.

So I only have six minutes left and just wasted a few seconds letting you know, but I need some assistance in getting things off our iPod onto the net. In the last town we were in, I came so close to getting it up only to be thwarted by the only damn cd -burner in the shop being broken. This is the problem: my iPod is mac formatted - the folks at Apple thought it would be hilarious to not include some sort of compatibility between windows and mac versions of iTunes to read the voice memos you record from any computer. If your iPod formatted on a mac (I believe it's HSF +), windows iTunes will tell you to reformat the buggar . And get this, the iPod records voice memos in old school PC style wav files. What the hell. Anyway, I can't test or install things on this library computer, but if someone checking the blog who is tech savvy could find a program to retrieve data from a mac formatted iPod from a windows machine - a program that doesn't use a god damn install

Paris here we come!

So not much to update since the last time. I'm trying to think what we even did the past two weeks. Well last weekend was roller derby nationals in Atlanta, GA and is the first time we haven't gone to nationals in...4 years! We have gone the past 4 years so it was a little sad not to be there. However they do stream it live for a small fee so we did that so last weekend lots of roller derby was watched! Luckily it was on the east coast so it was only 6 hours difference so we didn't stay up too too late (Sat I think we got to bed at like 3am) and we got to watch Gotham win again! It was fun watching from the couch, but I much prefer to be there. I mean when I would be yelling at the TV and clapping and cheering when something good happened and it is just not the same when it is just me doing that. The claps echo in the room...Next year is going to be in Milwaukee which I don't really know anything about, but apparently they have a lot of vegan food. We shall see if we ma
