Sept Adventures 2023: Undeloh

Today we got up and went to Undeloh for a 20km hike through the Heather fields.

The weather was perfect! Not too hot, sunny, and just gorgeous!

We were definitely nearing the end of the season, there were some blooms and places that were very brown, but lots of purple still

Totengrund

Such a nice walk! And mostly flat too so very easy to get around.

We had wandered around Buchholz in der Nordheide after dinner the night before and found this Afghan restaurant with vegan options so we had to try it for dinner! We had this potato and kidney bean dish

With a side of Sabzi-Palaw - spinach and spices

Gulpi-Palaw - cauliflower

And a side of Borani Kachalo - potatoes and spices. This was pretty tasty, but not as good as the place I would go to in Munich (but that place is amazing!). Still really good and so much food after a long day of hiking

The final days in Paris

Our second day of our museum pass we used to go to the Louvre. It so huge - we spent from open to close there and just managed to see everything. It is also very confusing how to get from point a to point b - so many stairs and up and down floors just to see the one floor....good thing I had Raymond or I would have wondered aimlessly forever (but by the end I had the hang of it). We started with the medieval Louvre, Greek, Etruscan, Roman and Egyptian Antiquities. When we first walked in we were right behind a few tour groups, but somehow we lost them pretty quick and we able to walk around and brows without tons of people. I cannot imagine going during the summer when it is super crowded. I liked the different colors of stone on some of them After that we got some lunch nearby then headed back to look at the paintings Then my favorite part - decorative arts. So much fun pretty things. Replica of Napoleons apartment. Then ...

Updates!

So I know we haven't updated in forever.....but we have REALLY been in the middle of nowhere. The section through the high Sierras is at least a 9 mile hike out to a road where you might get a ride down to a town (and we did that 9 mile stretch and the library there was....tiny and not very well organized). So we haven't been anywhere were the internet connection was good enough to upload anything, but Raymond is working on uploading the last few that we had from before The Sauffley's. But I am working on uploading the rest of the pictures we have taken so far, and depending on time I may make a post highlighting some of them. Raymond put a link to the pics on the side so you can just click that to see what we have been walking through. We have fallen a little farther behind now, but we are not really worried. This last section, the high Sierras, was exhausting! And I was not about to try and do more as then we wouldn't have been enjoying it....and if I am not enjoying ...

Campervan Adventures in Iceland: Day 11 - Kerid Crater & Reykjanes Peninsula

Day 11 our first stop was Kerid Crater. This was nice, but nothing special. You have to pay to get in, you can walk around the top and then down to the water, but if you are going to be seeing other craters then this is an easy one to skip. Nice, but nothing special.
