Salzburg 2023

My friend who had moved over to Munich Sept 2022 found out early 2023 that she would have to move back to the states. She was leaving the end of June so after we got back from Spain I went down to help her pack and clean and send her off. She always talked about how fun it would be living over here like she could just go to Salzburg for the day! Salzburg was a constant fun place she could go explore, but she never did.

When I got there we talked through everything that needed to be done and when we would do it and we had some time so I suggested one last adventure - a day trip to Salzburg!

We set up and got there in time to walk and get some lunch at Organic Pizza Salzburg

And gelato

And then wander the town

The gardens at Mirabell Palace

Walking back to downtown

It was so hot outside and we were overheating so I suggested we stop in one of the churches. I don't think she believed me that they would be nice and cool until we got in there! They are stone and do not retain heat at all. I remember once in winter we went to a concert or something in a church over here and it was so so cold I was an ice cube by the end! It was way colder than outside! But they are so nice on a hot day

It was a whirlwind tour, but a nice adventure!

The final days in Paris

Our second day of our museum pass we used to go to the Louvre. It so huge - we spent from open to close there and just managed to see everything. It is also very confusing how to get from point a to point b - so many stairs and up and down floors just to see the one floor....good thing I had Raymond or I would have wondered aimlessly forever (but by the end I had the hang of it). We started with the medieval Louvre, Greek, Etruscan, Roman and Egyptian Antiquities. When we first walked in we were right behind a few tour groups, but somehow we lost them pretty quick and we able to walk around and brows without tons of people. I cannot imagine going during the summer when it is super crowded. I liked the different colors of stone on some of them After that we got some lunch nearby then headed back to look at the paintings Then my favorite part - decorative arts. So much fun pretty things. Replica of Napoleons apartment. Then ...

Campervan Adventures in Iceland: Day 11 - Kerid Crater & Reykjanes Peninsula

Day 11 our first stop was Kerid Crater. This was nice, but nothing special. You have to pay to get in, you can walk around the top and then down to the water, but if you are going to be seeing other craters then this is an easy one to skip. Nice, but nothing special.

Stupid Libraries.

So I only have six minutes left and just wasted a few seconds letting you know, but I need some assistance in getting things off our iPod onto the net. In the last town we were in, I came so close to getting it up only to be thwarted by the only damn cd -burner in the shop being broken. This is the problem: my iPod is mac formatted - the folks at Apple thought it would be hilarious to not include some sort of compatibility between windows and mac versions of iTunes to read the voice memos you record from any computer. If your iPod formatted on a mac (I believe it's HSF +), windows iTunes will tell you to reformat the buggar . And get this, the iPod records voice memos in old school PC style wav files. What the hell. Anyway, I can't test or install things on this library computer, but if someone checking the blog who is tech savvy could find a program to retrieve data from a mac formatted iPod from a windows machine - a program that doesn't use a god damn install ...
