Campervan Adventures in Spain & Portugal: Ria Formosa Park

Today was so much fun! We parked by the Faro airport and wandered through Ria Formosa Park and saw all the birds!

Okay you can't really see them, but these were flamingos!! Which I was very excited to see. I mean how often do you see wild flamingos??

There were so many fun birds!

All the flamingos!

We saw most of these birds! I saw someone post a little while ago how you are going on living your life never really caring about birds and then bam! You turn 40 and you are a birder. I laughed because it is so true for me! I even downloaded the free app Merlin Bird ID which I love! If anyone else is interested it is a great app for identifying birds! You can do a sound ID where it listens and tells you what birds are around, or a step by step ID where you enter the info and it gives you a list of potential birds. You can also save the birds so you know what you saw where. I love this app and it is so fun seeing what is around!

They also apparently have wild chameleons here! Though we didn't see any

We got to the beach for lunch

And then wandered back to the car a different way and saw so many little crabbies in the mud!

We even saw a turtle cross the road, but it was far away. We saw something moving so strangely and couldn't figure out what it was, so the binoculars came out and it was a little turtle!

The planes also took off and flew overhead right here!

Once back to the car it was off to camp (Algarve Motorhome Park Falésia) which was just a short walk to Praia da Falésia!

And in for a swim! The water was freezing, but we still swam for a bit!!

After dinner we came back to watch the sunset on the beach

Such a fun day! All the birds plus we got to go swimming!

17.58km walked/10 flights

The final days in Paris

Our second day of our museum pass we used to go to the Louvre. It so huge - we spent from open to close there and just managed to see everything. It is also very confusing how to get from point a to point b - so many stairs and up and down floors just to see the one floor....good thing I had Raymond or I would have wondered aimlessly forever (but by the end I had the hang of it). We started with the medieval Louvre, Greek, Etruscan, Roman and Egyptian Antiquities. When we first walked in we were right behind a few tour groups, but somehow we lost them pretty quick and we able to walk around and brows without tons of people. I cannot imagine going during the summer when it is super crowded. I liked the different colors of stone on some of them After that we got some lunch nearby then headed back to look at the paintings Then my favorite part - decorative arts. So much fun pretty things. Replica of Napoleons apartment. Then ...

Updates!

So I know we haven't updated in forever.....but we have REALLY been in the middle of nowhere. The section through the high Sierras is at least a 9 mile hike out to a road where you might get a ride down to a town (and we did that 9 mile stretch and the library there was....tiny and not very well organized). So we haven't been anywhere were the internet connection was good enough to upload anything, but Raymond is working on uploading the last few that we had from before The Sauffley's. But I am working on uploading the rest of the pictures we have taken so far, and depending on time I may make a post highlighting some of them. Raymond put a link to the pics on the side so you can just click that to see what we have been walking through. We have fallen a little farther behind now, but we are not really worried. This last section, the high Sierras, was exhausting! And I was not about to try and do more as then we wouldn't have been enjoying it....and if I am not enjoying ...

Campervan Adventures in Iceland: Day 11 - Kerid Crater & Reykjanes Peninsula

Day 11 our first stop was Kerid Crater. This was nice, but nothing special. You have to pay to get in, you can walk around the top and then down to the water, but if you are going to be seeing other craters then this is an easy one to skip. Nice, but nothing special.
