Campervan Adventures in Spain & Portugal: Berlenga Grande Island Tour

Today was another boat tour day, this time to Berlenga Grande Island. First up we drove to Peniche where the boat left from.

Then on our way to the island! They limit the number of people who can go per day and you can really only go on a tour (you can also add on a cave tour once you get there, which we did, and a tour of the island which we passed on).

We saw a dolphin on the way out!

When we got there we had an hour to wander before the cave tour

We spied on the tiny beach

Then headed uphill to do the one loop hike as we had just enough time for it. We saw so many lizards along the way!

The island is really not that big and there is this loop trail and then a trail to the fort and that is about it, but this tour was the perfect amount of time to explore if you add in the cave tour. Without that I think we would have had way too much time on the island.

Our cave tour - we got lucky and had the back to ourselves (it was a glass bottom boat, but there were not many fish or anything to see

The old fort. We had the option of getting off here and walking back to the dock, or taking the boat. We got off here since we were planning on walking over to spy anyways.

There are lots of stairs to the top of the ridge - if you look closely you can see some people going up the stairs to the right hand side of the photo!

First we spied on the fort

Then headed off to go back to the dock

And back to Peniche

Since it was a full day tour we headed on to camp afterwards (Parque de Campismo Baia Azul). This was our camping spot - right at the front by the parking lot (where no one was parked) and right on the water

Of course then we had to spy on the beach

It was so windy here and the wind was cold! We had to eat inside and if it got too warm we could open a window and it was cool in 2 seconds. So much nicer than the super hot at the beginning of the trip!

9.28km walked/57 flights

Fall is here!

So not a whole lot has happened since I last posted. On our anniversary we were going to go on the boat tour of Berlin, but it was rainy and overcast so we decided to wait for a nice sunny day to do that. We had a few errands to run in the morning and then Raymond said about going to a museum. I saw the natural history museum and since I loved the one in Denver we decided to go there. You walk into this big room with lots of fossils and Dinosaurs! They didn't have a lot of things - this was the main room and is maim attraction of the museum. It was a tiny place, and they were doing renovations on a lot of the other exhibits. Apparently it is famous for having the largest dinosaur skeleton in the world! They also had these fun viewfinder things you could look through and if you point it at a dinosaur it would show this animation that filled them in and then showed them running around or eating or whatever. I thought it was fun. There was also a large room of rocks and m...

Den Haag, Netherlands Part 3

Our last day in Den Haag we wandered around just a bit more First stop - the Antique and Book market The ground was all seashells Mondrian on the water by the government buildings We decided to get lunch at Cafe Zeta which was in Grote Markt where they were having a free music festival, Sinester. Though we were there on the last day which was the kids day. It was fun as we were sitting outside and at the stage people were teaching kids how to play things and DJ and stuff.  I got the Hippie Buddah Bowl (Bulgur, sweet potato, bald, roasted chickpeas, tahini dressing, avocado, black sesame seeds) with the Fennel mint pear juice And Raymond had the Apple Pear Ginger juice and the Veggie Roast Bowl (mushrooms, red onion rings, rocket, Parmesan cheese, olive oil). Super tasty lunch! A stop at More Pastry for more treats - Peanut butter chocolate tart - so good! And the...

The final days in Paris

Our second day of our museum pass we used to go to the Louvre. It so huge - we spent from open to close there and just managed to see everything. It is also very confusing how to get from point a to point b - so many stairs and up and down floors just to see the one floor....good thing I had Raymond or I would have wondered aimlessly forever (but by the end I had the hang of it). We started with the medieval Louvre, Greek, Etruscan, Roman and Egyptian Antiquities. When we first walked in we were right behind a few tour groups, but somehow we lost them pretty quick and we able to walk around and brows without tons of people. I cannot imagine going during the summer when it is super crowded. I liked the different colors of stone on some of them After that we got some lunch nearby then headed back to look at the paintings Then my favorite part - decorative arts. So much fun pretty things. Replica of Napoleons apartment. Then ...
