Campervan Adventures in Spain & Portugal: On the way home

Today we woke up and started driving. It said 13 hours to Berlin, which is slightly long so we decided to see where we were around 6 and stop there for the night. I forgot it was a long weekend in Germany so all the campgrounds were full, but we found a parking lot place in Herford that had space so we stayed there.

And wandered in to spy on the town

Here is where they drowned witches

We also found an Indian restaurant so we got some takeout to have for dinner! It was pretty good and the spicy was actually spicy!

The next day it was up and ready to go and finish driving home as soon as we could leave. It was only a few hours drive which was nice as we had plenty of time to unpack and relax.

We had such a good time on our Spain & Portugal trip! I loved Northern Spain the most. The beaches in southern Portugal were also amazing, but the towns were meh. I think we could have spent this entire trip just in N Spain and been happy. In fact I am definitely going to be planning a longer trip there in the future! There are so many fun beaches to explore and mountains to hike in and I really really loved it there. I could see spending like a year there and just enjoying everything. Plus it was not nearly as warm as southern Spain! We will be back for sure!

Updates!

So I know we haven't updated in forever.....but we have REALLY been in the middle of nowhere. The section through the high Sierras is at least a 9 mile hike out to a road where you might get a ride down to a town (and we did that 9 mile stretch and the library there was....tiny and not very well organized). So we haven't been anywhere were the internet connection was good enough to upload anything, but Raymond is working on uploading the last few that we had from before The Sauffley's. But I am working on uploading the rest of the pictures we have taken so far, and depending on time I may make a post highlighting some of them. Raymond put a link to the pics on the side so you can just click that to see what we have been walking through. We have fallen a little farther behind now, but we are not really worried. This last section, the high Sierras, was exhausting! And I was not about to try and do more as then we wouldn't have been enjoying it....and if I am not enjoying ...

The final days in Paris

Our second day of our museum pass we used to go to the Louvre. It so huge - we spent from open to close there and just managed to see everything. It is also very confusing how to get from point a to point b - so many stairs and up and down floors just to see the one floor....good thing I had Raymond or I would have wondered aimlessly forever (but by the end I had the hang of it). We started with the medieval Louvre, Greek, Etruscan, Roman and Egyptian Antiquities. When we first walked in we were right behind a few tour groups, but somehow we lost them pretty quick and we able to walk around and brows without tons of people. I cannot imagine going during the summer when it is super crowded. I liked the different colors of stone on some of them After that we got some lunch nearby then headed back to look at the paintings Then my favorite part - decorative arts. So much fun pretty things. Replica of Napoleons apartment. Then ...

Fall is here!

So not a whole lot has happened since I last posted. On our anniversary we were going to go on the boat tour of Berlin, but it was rainy and overcast so we decided to wait for a nice sunny day to do that. We had a few errands to run in the morning and then Raymond said about going to a museum. I saw the natural history museum and since I loved the one in Denver we decided to go there. You walk into this big room with lots of fossils and Dinosaurs! They didn't have a lot of things - this was the main room and is maim attraction of the museum. It was a tiny place, and they were doing renovations on a lot of the other exhibits. Apparently it is famous for having the largest dinosaur skeleton in the world! They also had these fun viewfinder things you could look through and if you point it at a dinosaur it would show this animation that filled them in and then showed them running around or eating or whatever. I thought it was fun. There was also a large room of rocks and m...
