Campervan Adventures in Spain & Portugal: Mirador El Cochino & El Torcal de Antequera

Day 4 we got up and drove to some viewpoints over Malaga - we were going to start at Mirador El Cochino and walk to Mirador Francisco Vazquez Sell, but the roads to get to the first one were not good so we tried to the second and were able to park there. Then we walked over to Mirador El Cochino and back.

It was a pretty nice walk, flat, shaded, with some nice views the entire way

Then we headed off to El Torcal de Antequera which was so much fun!

So many cool rocks to walk through!

We even saw some mountain goats! They are hard to spot, but there is one just to the right of the middle rock pile in the photo above

There is one in the middle on the top of these rocks too!

And one on the highest rock here! So many mountain goats!

We had so much fun wandering! There was a breeze most of the time so it wasn't too bad in the sun, even though it was 28 with little shade

There were also really nice views of the surroundings since it was on the top of the mountain.

Then it was off to camp (Camping Parque Ardales), which was the only one that I had booked in advance since it was the only one close to the hike we would do on day 5, and I was glad I did as it was completely full when we got there! Probably because the hike is very popular (we had to get tickets and there were only early morning ones available when I bought them!) and there is nowhere else to camp close by. It was a nice, wooded area so perfect for relaxing in the shade.

12.32km walked, 39flights

Updates!

So I know we haven't updated in forever.....but we have REALLY been in the middle of nowhere. The section through the high Sierras is at least a 9 mile hike out to a road where you might get a ride down to a town (and we did that 9 mile stretch and the library there was....tiny and not very well organized). So we haven't been anywhere were the internet connection was good enough to upload anything, but Raymond is working on uploading the last few that we had from before The Sauffley's. But I am working on uploading the rest of the pictures we have taken so far, and depending on time I may make a post highlighting some of them. Raymond put a link to the pics on the side so you can just click that to see what we have been walking through. We have fallen a little farther behind now, but we are not really worried. This last section, the high Sierras, was exhausting! And I was not about to try and do more as then we wouldn't have been enjoying it....and if I am not enjoying ...

The final days in Paris

Our second day of our museum pass we used to go to the Louvre. It so huge - we spent from open to close there and just managed to see everything. It is also very confusing how to get from point a to point b - so many stairs and up and down floors just to see the one floor....good thing I had Raymond or I would have wondered aimlessly forever (but by the end I had the hang of it). We started with the medieval Louvre, Greek, Etruscan, Roman and Egyptian Antiquities. When we first walked in we were right behind a few tour groups, but somehow we lost them pretty quick and we able to walk around and brows without tons of people. I cannot imagine going during the summer when it is super crowded. I liked the different colors of stone on some of them After that we got some lunch nearby then headed back to look at the paintings Then my favorite part - decorative arts. So much fun pretty things. Replica of Napoleons apartment. Then ...

Fall is here!

So not a whole lot has happened since I last posted. On our anniversary we were going to go on the boat tour of Berlin, but it was rainy and overcast so we decided to wait for a nice sunny day to do that. We had a few errands to run in the morning and then Raymond said about going to a museum. I saw the natural history museum and since I loved the one in Denver we decided to go there. You walk into this big room with lots of fossils and Dinosaurs! They didn't have a lot of things - this was the main room and is maim attraction of the museum. It was a tiny place, and they were doing renovations on a lot of the other exhibits. Apparently it is famous for having the largest dinosaur skeleton in the world! They also had these fun viewfinder things you could look through and if you point it at a dinosaur it would show this animation that filled them in and then showed them running around or eating or whatever. I thought it was fun. There was also a large room of rocks and m...
