Campervan Adventures in Spain & Portugal: Lisbon

Today we walked all over Lisbon! Up and down all the hills!

We started from camp and walked through the park to Panorâmico de Monsanto - a graffitied old high-end restaurant with views of the city

It was a lot of fun to wander around

Then off to the city!

First stop - vegan nata! So good!

Miradouro de São Pedro de Alcântara

Lots of restaurants had outdoor seating on the stairs

We decided to get lunch out as well at Organi Chiado - we got there just in time to get a table that was off to the side by itself, not right next to everyone else! Win

And we had a Caprese salad which was so tasty and fresh

Spirit tofu (tofu salad) with salad, sweet potatoes and green rice that was so so good!

And penne with tomato cashew sauce and pesto - also really good

After lunch we headed down to the water

And found a craft market

Of course we had to get some gelato - I tried the pistachio which apparently was what this place was known for...and it was just okay. It was odd texture like you had to chew it.

Then off to get some empanadas to take back to camp for dinner. The empanada place was right on this super steep street with a funicular!

While waiting we saw lots of them go up and down

We were going to do a giant loop and walk back to camp, but it was so hot by then that we decided to call a taxi instead.

The empanadas from Empanar we had for dinner were just meh. There was quinoa portobello & cheese which I did not like at all. Roasted veggie and cheese which was meh at best. Corn and cheese which was surprisingly better. And roasted veggie which was the only really good one.

Overall a great day, we both really enjoyed Lisbon way more than we expected. Lots of walking, lots of hills, lots of fun!

19.43km walked/35 flights

Fall is here!

So not a whole lot has happened since I last posted. On our anniversary we were going to go on the boat tour of Berlin, but it was rainy and overcast so we decided to wait for a nice sunny day to do that. We had a few errands to run in the morning and then Raymond said about going to a museum. I saw the natural history museum and since I loved the one in Denver we decided to go there. You walk into this big room with lots of fossils and Dinosaurs! They didn't have a lot of things - this was the main room and is maim attraction of the museum. It was a tiny place, and they were doing renovations on a lot of the other exhibits. Apparently it is famous for having the largest dinosaur skeleton in the world! They also had these fun viewfinder things you could look through and if you point it at a dinosaur it would show this animation that filled them in and then showed them running around or eating or whatever. I thought it was fun. There was also a large room of rocks and m...

Den Haag, Netherlands Part 3

Our last day in Den Haag we wandered around just a bit more First stop - the Antique and Book market The ground was all seashells Mondrian on the water by the government buildings We decided to get lunch at Cafe Zeta which was in Grote Markt where they were having a free music festival, Sinester. Though we were there on the last day which was the kids day. It was fun as we were sitting outside and at the stage people were teaching kids how to play things and DJ and stuff.  I got the Hippie Buddah Bowl (Bulgur, sweet potato, bald, roasted chickpeas, tahini dressing, avocado, black sesame seeds) with the Fennel mint pear juice And Raymond had the Apple Pear Ginger juice and the Veggie Roast Bowl (mushrooms, red onion rings, rocket, Parmesan cheese, olive oil). Super tasty lunch! A stop at More Pastry for more treats - Peanut butter chocolate tart - so good! And the...

The final days in Paris

Our second day of our museum pass we used to go to the Louvre. It so huge - we spent from open to close there and just managed to see everything. It is also very confusing how to get from point a to point b - so many stairs and up and down floors just to see the one floor....good thing I had Raymond or I would have wondered aimlessly forever (but by the end I had the hang of it). We started with the medieval Louvre, Greek, Etruscan, Roman and Egyptian Antiquities. When we first walked in we were right behind a few tour groups, but somehow we lost them pretty quick and we able to walk around and brows without tons of people. I cannot imagine going during the summer when it is super crowded. I liked the different colors of stone on some of them After that we got some lunch nearby then headed back to look at the paintings Then my favorite part - decorative arts. So much fun pretty things. Replica of Napoleons apartment. Then ...
