Campervan Adventures in Spain & Portugal: Bom Jesus do Monte & Parque Nacional Peneda-Gerês

Today was a great day! We started by driving to the bottom of Bom Jesus do Monte and walking up the stairs to the church (there was also a funicular)

The first small set of stairs had these buildings

With the story of Jesus inside

We were there when the sun was coming up and in a bad place to take photos! But it was gorgeous!

Inside

There was this fake cave

And of course gorgeous views!

Then we headed on to Parque Nacional Peneda-Gerês. First stop was Ponte da Misarela for a short hike and a lunch break

We had lunch here by the waterfall and Devil's bridge

Then continued on a little ways

Saw some goat friends

Then we drove on to Pincães for another waterfall hike

This was such a nice hike! It was forested and you climb up some rocks and suddenly there is a waterfall! If it had been warmer we could have swam in the pool there

The way there was a bit tricky, but you just followed this little aqueduct thing

Then it was on to camp (Ermida Gerês Camping) where we had a kitty who was watching over everything!

It was a gorgeous area! The camp is in the park and we had another hike to do, but decided to relax a bit and do it after dinner.

On the way to another waterfall, Cascata da Rajada, and we started seeing lots of these small buildings.

Taking a break at the falls

A very green spider friend

So many nice flowers along the trail

The church in town - these bells went off all the time and we were walking by when they did and it wasn't actually the bells! They have a speaker set up that blasts bells and was so loud! Camp was not far from here and...well we had to get up early the next morning because these bells started going off at 6:30! I guess that is what time everyone must get up here! I don't think I have ever seen just a speaker blaring bells before. Still it was a great day!

16.22km walked/97 flights

The final days in Paris

Our second day of our museum pass we used to go to the Louvre. It so huge - we spent from open to close there and just managed to see everything. It is also very confusing how to get from point a to point b - so many stairs and up and down floors just to see the one floor....good thing I had Raymond or I would have wondered aimlessly forever (but by the end I had the hang of it). We started with the medieval Louvre, Greek, Etruscan, Roman and Egyptian Antiquities. When we first walked in we were right behind a few tour groups, but somehow we lost them pretty quick and we able to walk around and brows without tons of people. I cannot imagine going during the summer when it is super crowded. I liked the different colors of stone on some of them After that we got some lunch nearby then headed back to look at the paintings Then my favorite part - decorative arts. So much fun pretty things. Replica of Napoleons apartment. Then ...

Campervan Adventures in Iceland: Day 11 - Kerid Crater & Reykjanes Peninsula

Day 11 our first stop was Kerid Crater. This was nice, but nothing special. You have to pay to get in, you can walk around the top and then down to the water, but if you are going to be seeing other craters then this is an easy one to skip. Nice, but nothing special.

Stupid Libraries.

So I only have six minutes left and just wasted a few seconds letting you know, but I need some assistance in getting things off our iPod onto the net. In the last town we were in, I came so close to getting it up only to be thwarted by the only damn cd -burner in the shop being broken. This is the problem: my iPod is mac formatted - the folks at Apple thought it would be hilarious to not include some sort of compatibility between windows and mac versions of iTunes to read the voice memos you record from any computer. If your iPod formatted on a mac (I believe it's HSF +), windows iTunes will tell you to reformat the buggar . And get this, the iPod records voice memos in old school PC style wav files. What the hell. Anyway, I can't test or install things on this library computer, but if someone checking the blog who is tech savvy could find a program to retrieve data from a mac formatted iPod from a windows machine - a program that doesn't use a god damn install ...
