Easter Trip 2023: Bamberg

Bamberg is another fun town to wander around. We got in in the afternoon and went to have a spy on all the things.

This is probably the most famous spot in town - the view of the Altes Rathaus

You can walk through on the bridge

It doesn't look like it, but this was pretty steep!

While we were here we found out our friend had had her baby! We were so excited!

The view at night

The next day we hiked up to the palace and cathedral on the hill

The cathedral was closed to visitors, but would open in like a half hour, but I was starving by this point and could not wait for food...I definitely should have packed myself a snack

We had lunch at Henri which had lots of outdoor seating, but when we tried to go there for dinner we weren't able to sit out there so had to go somewhere else. But for lunch apparently outside is fine! We had gnocchi with roasted veggies

And this fancy stuffed kohlrabi - everything was super tasty!

The day prior we had seen that there were boat tours so we headed off for that in the afternoon

We had to go through a lock

Going back through the lock. It was so nice!

Then more wanders

We had seen this wall from the boat so we went to find it and see what the pictures were

And found an Indian restaurant, Samrat, which was super tasty! The flavors were much different than other Indian food we have had. We had the vegan Nilgiri (spinach, mint, coriander curry - so good!)

And Karahi - also super tasty!

These mannequins are having fun!

Our last day we had another wander around a different part of town

We had lunch at Henrietta with some pesto pasta

And veggie pizza! So tasty, though for some reason they only had these small barrel tables opened even though there were a lot of people who wanted to sit outside and it was so warm! It was odd.

And some chocolate gelato before we took my friend to the train station and headed home. It was such a nice trip! The weather was perfect, the food was delicious, the company was amazing. I'm still so sad she had to move back to the states, but it was nice while she was here.

Stupid Libraries.

So I only have six minutes left and just wasted a few seconds letting you know, but I need some assistance in getting things off our iPod onto the net. In the last town we were in, I came so close to getting it up only to be thwarted by the only damn cd -burner in the shop being broken. This is the problem: my iPod is mac formatted - the folks at Apple thought it would be hilarious to not include some sort of compatibility between windows and mac versions of iTunes to read the voice memos you record from any computer. If your iPod formatted on a mac (I believe it's HSF +), windows iTunes will tell you to reformat the buggar . And get this, the iPod records voice memos in old school PC style wav files. What the hell. Anyway, I can't test or install things on this library computer, but if someone checking the blog who is tech savvy could find a program to retrieve data from a mac formatted iPod from a windows machine - a program that doesn't use a god damn install ...

The final days in Paris

Our second day of our museum pass we used to go to the Louvre. It so huge - we spent from open to close there and just managed to see everything. It is also very confusing how to get from point a to point b - so many stairs and up and down floors just to see the one floor....good thing I had Raymond or I would have wondered aimlessly forever (but by the end I had the hang of it). We started with the medieval Louvre, Greek, Etruscan, Roman and Egyptian Antiquities. When we first walked in we were right behind a few tour groups, but somehow we lost them pretty quick and we able to walk around and brows without tons of people. I cannot imagine going during the summer when it is super crowded. I liked the different colors of stone on some of them After that we got some lunch nearby then headed back to look at the paintings Then my favorite part - decorative arts. So much fun pretty things. Replica of Napoleons apartment. Then ...

Our last day in Den Haag we wandered around just a bit more First stop - the Antique and Book market The ground was all seashells Mondrian on the water by the government buildings We decided to get lunch at Cafe Zeta which was in Grote Markt where they were having a free music festival, Sinester. Though we were there on the last day which was the kids day. It was fun as we were sitting outside and at the stage people were teaching kids how to play things and DJ and stuff.  I got the Hippie Buddah Bowl (Bulgur, sweet potato, bald, roasted chickpeas, tahini dressing, avocado, black sesame seeds) with the Fennel mint pear juice And Raymond had the Apple Pear Ginger juice and the Veggie Roast Bowl (mushrooms, red onion rings, rocket, Parmesan cheese, olive oil).
