Easter Trio 2023: Rothenburg ob der Tauber

After Nuremberg we headed on to our first official stop - Rothenburg ob der Tauber. This was such a cute old town! It was small and so much fun to walk around

I had read that they had this treat there - Rothenburger Schneeballen - and one of the bakeries had vegan versions so off we headed for an afternoon snack.

So excited to try this cinnamon sugar treat...only to be immediately super disappointed. This was...not good. It was like if you took bits of not very good pie dough and baked them till crispy and dried out then put a hint of cinnamon sugar on it. My friend said her non-vegan one wasn't good either so I honestly do not know why people get these...there were chocolate covered ones and maybe those are better, but they were sold out of the vegan versions when we were there. Or maybe the bakery where we went just wasn't very good...who knows, but it didn't make me want to try another one.

Lots of Easter decor

There was an old city wall you could walk along! My friend is not a fan of heights so we just had a quick spy

Cactus fajitas from a Mexican place in town. Honestly I was not expecting these to be very good as most Mexican in Germany that we have tried has been...not the best, but we were pleasantly surprised (and the food my friend had was some of her favorite she has ever eaten!)

The next day we headed off to spy on the Berggarten (garden of the former castle)

With some nice views!

I just looked this up and saw that this is supposed to be broccoli. A broccoli fountain, which I did not realize when we were there.

We could keep our car parked until 1, so around noon we went to spy on somewhere to eat lunch and happened upon this hotel restaurant that had fancy vegan foods! Soup and fancy salad for lunch and it was so tasty! Then it was off to our next stop: Bamberg

Stupid Libraries.

So I only have six minutes left and just wasted a few seconds letting you know, but I need some assistance in getting things off our iPod onto the net. In the last town we were in, I came so close to getting it up only to be thwarted by the only damn cd -burner in the shop being broken. This is the problem: my iPod is mac formatted - the folks at Apple thought it would be hilarious to not include some sort of compatibility between windows and mac versions of iTunes to read the voice memos you record from any computer. If your iPod formatted on a mac (I believe it's HSF +), windows iTunes will tell you to reformat the buggar . And get this, the iPod records voice memos in old school PC style wav files. What the hell. Anyway, I can't test or install things on this library computer, but if someone checking the blog who is tech savvy could find a program to retrieve data from a mac formatted iPod from a windows machine - a program that doesn't use a god damn install ...

The final days in Paris

Our second day of our museum pass we used to go to the Louvre. It so huge - we spent from open to close there and just managed to see everything. It is also very confusing how to get from point a to point b - so many stairs and up and down floors just to see the one floor....good thing I had Raymond or I would have wondered aimlessly forever (but by the end I had the hang of it). We started with the medieval Louvre, Greek, Etruscan, Roman and Egyptian Antiquities. When we first walked in we were right behind a few tour groups, but somehow we lost them pretty quick and we able to walk around and brows without tons of people. I cannot imagine going during the summer when it is super crowded. I liked the different colors of stone on some of them After that we got some lunch nearby then headed back to look at the paintings Then my favorite part - decorative arts. So much fun pretty things. Replica of Napoleons apartment. Then ...
