The Maldives Day 9: Christmas day at Kuramathi, part 1

Christmas day started off with breakfast at the buffet restaurant where I realized I like pineapple now! I never used to eat it by itself, but I tried it this morning and it is delicious! We came back to the room to find stingray on our bed!

Then it was time for shark patrol! No sharks yet, but lots of fishes

There were so many fishes just hanging out Raymond said I wonder if they will let me float with them? So he grabbed his snorkel gear and tried

Only they ran away from him

So he snorkeled while I was watching for sharkies!!

All the sharkies!

So tiny!

Raymond came back from snorkeling and said he saw a giant shark out there! Yeah, glad I wasn't out there. I had read in the info book at the Eco Center that if you see a shark don't freak out and splash around as you will scare them and it is not nice. Yeah, I don't think I could have not freaked out...

Then late morning we set off for our Christmas Adventure

A semi-submarine ride! The top always stays above water

But you sit down below so you can spy on the fishes!!

There were so many fishes, and I took a billion photos, but I didn't turn it onto underwater mode until we were almost done...so most of the photos are not that good. I am still going to include a bunch of them cause that's how I roll.

The fishes were really pretty

So many of these tiny black and white fishes

And unicorn fish

And we saw a guy diving down in the water!

Lots of powderblue surgeon fish as well (in the bottom right corner)

So many fishes!

Parrotfish

On the way back to shore this school of fish came and surrounded us, but the colors were really disorienting in the boat. I made me a bit dizzy somehow

We did see some dolphins swim under our boat and a big stingray coming back, but no photos as they were way too quick

And going back after all the spying

That was our Christmas morning adventure!

Stupid Libraries.

So I only have six minutes left and just wasted a few seconds letting you know, but I need some assistance in getting things off our iPod onto the net. In the last town we were in, I came so close to getting it up only to be thwarted by the only damn cd -burner in the shop being broken. This is the problem: my iPod is mac formatted - the folks at Apple thought it would be hilarious to not include some sort of compatibility between windows and mac versions of iTunes to read the voice memos you record from any computer. If your iPod formatted on a mac (I believe it's HSF +), windows iTunes will tell you to reformat the buggar . And get this, the iPod records voice memos in old school PC style wav files. What the hell. Anyway, I can't test or install things on this library computer, but if someone checking the blog who is tech savvy could find a program to retrieve data from a mac formatted iPod from a windows machine - a program that doesn't use a god damn install ...

The final days in Paris

Our second day of our museum pass we used to go to the Louvre. It so huge - we spent from open to close there and just managed to see everything. It is also very confusing how to get from point a to point b - so many stairs and up and down floors just to see the one floor....good thing I had Raymond or I would have wondered aimlessly forever (but by the end I had the hang of it). We started with the medieval Louvre, Greek, Etruscan, Roman and Egyptian Antiquities. When we first walked in we were right behind a few tour groups, but somehow we lost them pretty quick and we able to walk around and brows without tons of people. I cannot imagine going during the summer when it is super crowded. I liked the different colors of stone on some of them After that we got some lunch nearby then headed back to look at the paintings Then my favorite part - decorative arts. So much fun pretty things. Replica of Napoleons apartment. Then ...

Our last day in Den Haag we wandered around just a bit more First stop - the Antique and Book market The ground was all seashells Mondrian on the water by the government buildings We decided to get lunch at Cafe Zeta which was in Grote Markt where they were having a free music festival, Sinester. Though we were there on the last day which was the kids day. It was fun as we were sitting outside and at the stage people were teaching kids how to play things and DJ and stuff.  I got the Hippie Buddah Bowl (Bulgur, sweet potato, bald, roasted chickpeas, tahini dressing, avocado, black sesame seeds) with the Fennel mint pear juice And Raymond had the Apple Pear Ginger juice and the Veggie Roast Bowl (mushrooms, red onion rings, rocket, Parmesan cheese, olive oil).
